All About Me
Hello,   My name is Mrs. Helvig.  This is my 19th year of teaching.  This is my 5th year at Groton Area Elementary. I love teaching and I especially love teaching math in the elementary school. I was born and raised in Aberdeen, SD. In 2000, I moved to Sturgis after meeting my husband, Aaron.  He is the Technology Coordinator at Groton Area Schools. I have two sons, Jayden 8, and Jackson 3. I graduated Northern State University in 1997 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and minor in  Physical Education and Coaching.  I also attended classes through Black Hills State University and University of Wyoming to become a Math Recovery Specialist. I have taught in various districts including Elm Valley School District, Meade School District, Leola School District, and now Groton District. I am looking forward to continuing my teaching career in Groton, as well as working with all the bright students at Groton!
